Chris is currently appearing with several different area groups and is engaged in multiple projects here in the great state of Colorado.

He plays pedal steel guitar and clawhammer banjo for Boulder alt-country duo Crowboy. There are two tracks with Chris' pedal steel on Crowboy's critically-acclaimed "making up for lost time" CD, available for your earholes right here on this site ("Cry Willow" and "Steal Away").  For more Crowboy, check out their myspace and CDBaby pages.  There's also a new Crowboy release in the making right now...so stay tuned!

Chris has also recently been sitting in on pedal steel with one of Boulder's premier reggae bands: Jubal and the Rude Boys. Be sure to watch for this excellent group and catch them whenever you can!  On June 3rd this year, Chris had the distinct pleasure to play the Boulder Draft House with Nicky Bomba and the Boulder Reggae Randoms, a pickup group assembled by Jubal for the occasion.  Nicky, currently the drummer for John Butler Trio, led the band and crowd through an exciting evening of ska, reggae, calypso and mento jams that had everyone seriously groovin.  Here's a Boulder Weekly article from the day of the show.  Hopefully there will be more such "pedal steel reggae" events in the near future, so sign up on the mailing list and don't miss out!

Chris' pedal steel playing is featured on several tracks on Full Belly's upcoming release "New Voice." Check out this great Colorado funk-rock-reggae band and watch for this exciting CD! Chris has also had the occasional opportunity to appear with these guys live, most notably for an awesome wedding reception at the top of the mountain ski resort in Steamboat Springs.

Chris also appears with guitarist Chris Connolly of Full Belly in their Connolly-Ramey Duo. With Connolly on guitar and Ramey on steel and banjo, they focus on folk, oldtime, country, rock and blues roots material. A demo is forthcoming... Book them NOW!

He plays steel and banjo with TUNACORN, formerly The Icemen house band from the Waterloo in Louisville, CO. This group is loose and fun and ready to party, performing classic rock, funk and reggae tunes with style and smiles.

Chris also performs solo clawhammer banjo shows! This is more of an intimate setting, with Chris breathing fresh life into music sometimes hundreds of years old, all by his lonesome on his open-back Goodtime banjo. This year 2010 marks his second appearance at the annual Art in the Schoolhouse charity event for the Patchwork School in Louisville, CO. Check out pics from 2009's set, it was rainy but everybody had a blast!  Can't wait for September 10-11!

He is also in the midst of a massive archive project, digging through more than 23 years of neglected recordings, flyers, songs and cosmic debris, all in the hopes of sharing the best here on THIS SITE. There's going to be "fresh" content uploaded here pretty much continually for the foreseeable future. Check back often and be sure to sign up on the email list for notifications on new content, shows, songs and MUSIC!

Chris just recently launched his own music publishing companyHerban Insurgent Publishing, LLC.  Watch the Songs page for updates!

Oh yeah, and if YOU have a project you think you need Chris' skills on, or wish to contact or book any of these insanely entertaining acts, let us know!
